Contract Unit: This position is part of the non-supervisory support services bargaining unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- At least two (2) years of commercial cleaning experience.
- Ability to supervise other custodial personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively using the English language when deemed necessary.
- Ability to read and understand labels instructions regulations and procedure manuals.
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
- Knowledge and training in general custodial duties to include all aspects of cleaning and operation of custodial equipment.
- A good attendance record.
- Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds; ability to climb ladders and work at various heights.
- Ability to work outside in hot cold or inclement weather.
- Ability to operate equipment such as vacuum cleaners floor machines mowers trimmers etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff students and persons from the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain communications with Assistant Foreman of Operations on personnel and work related issues.
- Assist in the training and direct work assignments of Custodian I employees.
- Responsible for securing building locking windows and doors and setting the security alarm.
- Will assume the role of Building Service Manager as required to provide service coverage.
- Wash and clean windows light fixtures ventilators and other items which may require climbing in excess of eight (8) feet.
- Clean and polish desks chairs tables cabinets and other office or classroom equipment.
- Collect and dispose of trash scrap and garbage.
- Perform grounds work as assigned including policing snow removal etc.
- Assist organizations using school facilities.
- Arrange rooms for meeting and conferences.
- Maintain regular on-time attendance.
- Perform related work as required.
