JOB SUMMARY:
Under administrative supervision this position oversees custodial operations for the College at assigned location(s). Responsibilities include training leading and supervising custodial staff; assigning and monitoring daily work activities; ensuring the cleanliness appearance and safety of College facilities; ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards procedures and codes; and supporting the safe efficient and effective operation of campus facilities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs daily supervision of all custodial full-time and part-time staff employees to ensure quality work is being performed; schedules employees; assigns tasks; ensures all custodial staff are properly trained on all cleaning equipment; and troubleshoots any problems they might have.
- Prepares employee appraisal evaluations.
- Prepares annual equipment budget requests; orders equipment and supplies.
- Verifies employees time sheets for the Department.
- Approves submitted Department leave forms.
- Makes recommendations for improvements or changes in Department operations.
- Backs-up employees when necessary.
- Travels to any campus locations to assist with various site needs.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree; five (5) years of related work experience in custodian supervision; or any equivalent combination of education training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job.
- Knowledge of custodial operations including building and floor cleaning techniques and operation of all types of floor maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of supervisory skills and methods.
- Knowledge of general custodial responsibilities and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Skill in applying custodial techniques and using equipment.
- Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
- Skill in organizing leading others training and prioritizing.
- Ability to be flexible use initiative be efficient give directions work independently as well as with others be self-motivated and supervise others.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as medium work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.

To perform this job successfully the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication able to learn and apply new technology and abide by all policies and procedures.
