Job Summary

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and to develop in each student an understanding of the skills necessary for a specific occupation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree or associates degree and current licensure/certification or registration by a nationally
recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner AND
Eligible for a District Teaching Permit with related training and work experience OR
Valid Health Science teaching certificate with required licensure/certification for subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Proficient in the effective use of tools and technology used in the occupational field
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Technology skills as related to classroom presentation and record-keeping
Strong knowledge of Internet and web-related technology
Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms
Ability to support students with computer set-up navigation and technology issues
Work Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; equipmentrequired to demonstrate and perform tasks related to assigned career and technical education subject area
Posture:Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion:Frequent walking
Lifting:Regular moderate lifting and carrying up to40 lbs; may lift and move textbooks classroom equipment and other tools and equipment in the classroom
Environment:May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; around machinery withmoving parts; may be exposed to chemical hazards or biohazards; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respondto needs in a timely manner in a high-stress environment; work prolonged or irregular hours

Minimum Experience:
Must have at least two years full-time wage-earning work experience in a health professions field for which you hold certification/licensure.
Experience working with high school-aged students- preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program Responsibilities
- Comply with federal state and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.
- Develop outlets for internships and apprenticeships.
- Develop and maintain a network of advisors to help keep the curriculum fresh and relevant and to stay current in industry trends.
- Take an active role in recruitment of new students in the program.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the districts curriculum program and reflect accommodations for differences in individual students.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that meet the needs of students. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Present a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning appropriate for high school students and where possible simulates a workplace site in the career.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Assist in the selection of instructional materials supplies and equipment.
- Compile and maintain all reports records and other documents related to local state and federal requirements.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents students colleagues community members and industry and higher education partners.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
