Job Summary
Function: The Construction Program Teacher maintains a safe hands-on learning environment for high school students exploring carpentry electrical and general construction. This role combines instructional support shop safety management and individualized student assistance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Enforce Safety Protocols: Supervise students during tool and equipment usage ensuring strict adherence to OSHA standards PPE requirements (safety glasses hard hats boots) and shop safety Emergency Procedures: Respond immediately to classroom or shop safety incidents administer basic first aid if certified and report hazards to Practical Projects: Guide students through building tasks blueprint reading layout and material cutting during active workshop and lab Learning: Adapt instructions and scaffold technical concepts for diverse learners English language learners or students requiring specialized Techniques: Model proper tool handling measuring accuracy and construction techniques as directed by the lead Materials: Stage lumber hardware and safety gear prior to lab sessions to maximize instructional Organization: Oversee daily shop clean-up tool check-in/out and proper storage of surplus building materials.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or GED Associates degree or related coursework preferredMinimum 13 years of practical experience in general construction carpentry or working within a school/youth-focused working knowledge of basic construction toolsTrade certification in construction/carpentry First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
