Critical Care Tech Emergency Room

Transformed from the original 84th Avenue St. Anthony North Hospital location 84th Avenue Neighborhood Health Center opened as a primary care and crisis care facility in 2015 to serve the surrounding community with an ER primary care crisis care and specialty physician practices. The Emergency Department at our 84th Avenue Neighborhood Health Center is a freestanding Level IV trauma ED with 16 beds and approximately 48 patients per day. Here nurses can broaden their skills. A fair portion of the patient population does not have a Primary Care Provider and can come to the ED for non-emergent issues as they do not have easy access to a doctor. The department also receives many patients who havent seen a doctor in quite some time and are extremely sick. Shared Governance is active in the ED and the team works together on processes and initiatives that increase employee satisfaction. We seek candidates who love working as part of a team. We value open communication amongst one another and need someone who understands that our department is a revolving door of patients with a variety of health circumstances. We strive for a 4:1 ratio. As aCritical Care Tech you will perform direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with an RN or Physician playing a vital role in patient support.

Every day you will be responsible forfacilitating communicating and collaborating with the healthcare team to meet the physical and emotional needs of the duties includeplacing orders receiving and stocking department supplies and assisting support staff with filing medical records and assigned daily tasks.

To be successful in this role you will possess relevant certifications or experience as a Critical Care Tech CNA or medical assistant ideally in an acute care setting. You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills capable of empathetically interacting with patients and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Communicates with RN and Physician regarding patient/family observations in an ongoing fashion to assist in the treatment of patients and communicates concerns regarding hazards or errors related to patients to the health care team.
• Performs a variety of technical tasks (i.e. IV insertion splinting wound care etc.) as directed by the RN or physician according to established clinic policies procedures and standards to provide quality patient care within hospital and/or department guidelines.
• Provides person-centered care with sensitivity and respect for the human experience in a collaborative fashion with other team members assisting the care team in achieving daily patient and family goals.
• Accurately and timely documents all tasks observations and procedures performed on the patient record according to medical and legal standards and maintains thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
• Demonstrates effective use of clinical strategies to ensure patient and associate safety.
• Collaborates with medicine nursing and other healthcare professionals regarding the plan of care follow-up and evaluation for the patient and family.

• High School Diploma or GED
  
• Emergency Medical Technician Certificate and IV Therapy Certificate or EMTA or EMTI or Paramedic Certificate
  

Preferred

• One (1) year healthcare experience (prehospital ED and/or patient care)
