Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Credit Policy & Product Strategist Director to join our Single-Family Acquisitions organization. The ideal candidate will leverage deep expertise in mortgage products and underwriting along with credit policy to identify opportunities within our current requirements and propose innovative execution-ready solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker who can advocate for changes that enhance our credit policy and product framework ensuring it aligns with Freddie Macs goals of accessibility and sustainability in the housing market.

Your Impact:

As a Credit Strategist in the Single-Family Division you will significantly impact Freddie Macs mission by driving strategic enhancements to credit policies that align with the organizations goals of improving accessibility and sustainability in the housing market fostering better borrower experiences and advancing homeownership solutions. Your role will be pivotal in advocating and implementing innovative credit and product strategies that reduce friction streamline operations and improve risk management.

Credit Policy & Product Review and Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existingcredit policies underwriting requirements and mortgage product eligibility/termswithin the Single-Family Acquisitions Division.
  • Analyze data loan performance QC findings and market trends to identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improveproduct execution borrower outcomes and risk performance.

Strategy & Solution Development (Policy Product):

  • Propose targeted solutions or revisions tocredit policy and product requirementsaimed at enhancing operational efficiency Seller execution and risk management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refinecredit and product strategies(e.g. eligibility documentation layered risk treatment product features) that improve overall performance.

Collaboration and Engagement:

  • Work closely with Quality Control Seller Engagement Credit Risk Management Legal/Compliance Operations and other relevant departments as well as external stakeholders (Sellers mortgage industry groups etc.) to ensure alignment ofcredit policy and product strategywith broader organizational goals.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Partner with Credit Risk Management to define and monitor performance metrics that evaluate the effectiveness of implementedcredit policy and product strategies(e.g. defect trends repurchase drivers early performance layered risk indicators Seller execution impacts).
  • Recommend adjustments based on observed outcomes operational feedback and changing market conditions.

Industry Leadership:

  • Collaborate with Seller Engagement and Credit Risk Management to proactively engage with Sellers through Freddie Mac forums including Seller Advisory Councils Credit Advisory Board on-site Seller visits and industry events/conferences.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends regulatory changes and best practices related tomortgage product design underwriting and credit policy.
  • Represent Freddie Mac at industry events and forums sharing insights and engaging with peers in the housing finance space.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance Economics Business Administration or a related field; Masters degree preferred
  • 12 years of relevant experience inmortgage credit policy product strategy/management underwriting or acquisition credit riskwithin the Single-Family mortgage industry
  • Preferred: prior primary marketexperience (e.g. independent mortgage bank and/or financial institution) supportingmortgage products and underwriting
  • Strong knowledge ofmortgage products underwriting standards credit risk assessment and regulatory requirements in the housing finance sector.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to consume data to extract actionable insights and strategies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to engage diverse partners effectively
  • Strategic mindset with a track record of driving change and innovation incredit policy and/or mortgage productpractices
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $184000 - $276000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position experience skill set internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
