The Third Judicial District is accepting applications for a service-oriented Court Operations Associate to join the Houston County Court Administration team.

This is a fast-paced detail-orientated position that provides excellent service to members of the public judges and justice partners and performs advanced court clerical administrative and technical work. This required the application of specialized knowledge of procedures records and regulations in Houston County District Court Administration. Work involves responsibility for court case processing and is performed independently in accordance with established laws standard practices regulations policies and procedures and requires independent judgment in interpreting these as it relates to day-to-day activities.

The work location for this position is the Houston County Courthouse located at 306 South Marshall Suite 2100 Caledonia MN 55921.

What YouWillDo

The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:

  • Perform the full range of court operation work that may involve responsibility for a specific area of court case processing
  • Perform a variety of advanced clerical functions and multiple case types
  • Provide assistance toattorneys parties self-represented litigants judges and the public by responding to a variety of questions in-person over the phone by mail and/or electronically
  • Provide courtroom support by working with judges court reporters and other justice partners
  • Review enter record and update case information using an electronic case processing systemand related applications and equipment
  • Schedule andmaintaincourt calendars
  • Receive process and receipt payments due to the court
  • Attend court andassistbycalling cases takingnotesand handling documents in the courtroom
  • May perform the duties ofan Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) includingrecording and monitoring court proceedings
  • Performs courtroom clerical duties; prepares case files for court; checks people in hosts Zoom for remote calendars as needed swears in witnesses; live updates court files and completes other case processing as needed.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater which may include but is not limited to customer service administrative work office and clerical work.

Nice to Have

  • Certificate or degree in a related field
  • Considerable knowledge of court procedures policies and records management
  • Experienceworking with the courts electronic case processing system

  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer including electronic case management system and related applications and equipment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules policies and statutes
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Well organized detail oriented and analytical
