Job Summary

As a member of the US Operations Finance organization the Cost Accountant plays a key role in the success of the Global Operations function at Dematic. This role supports manufacturing facilities in Grand Rapids MI and Salt Lake City Utah that are within a much larger global organization (35000 employees globally).

This position provides exposure to various levels of management within Dematic and is a springboard to more multifaceted roles within finance including management. The role will be reporting to the Manufacturing Controller and will work a hybrid schedule from our Grand Rapids MI office.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $ at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location education experience knowledge and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

This is Whatyou Will do in This Role:

  • In partnership with the local Manufacturing Controller manage costs inventory and metrics in Dematics manufacturing plants
  • Provide analysis support and strategic financial guidance to the Plant Manager Floor Supervisors and other key leaders on site
  • Develop financials for the factory including forecasts monthly review of actual to forecast and plan and support the annual budget process
  • Calculate review and ensure accuracy in standard costs including reviews of purchase price variance and production variances
  • Support daily costing process and annual standard cost setting as needed
  • Prepare upcoming workload for manufacturing site including backlog (booked work) and new business
  • Coordinate efforts with the Plant Manager to drive the SQDC (Safety Quality Delivery Cost) mentality and communicate the financial performance of the plant daily.
  • Review and provide daily reports on key labor metrics
  • Support the forecast of inventory in the plant
  • Calculate factory inventory reserves and evaluate the efficiency of reserves quarterly
  • Ensure compliance of all financial controls for the plant are followed including inventory management and cycle counts
  • Participate in reviews of pending bids for new project work along with attending project turnover meetings
  • Work with the Plant Manager to Identify and drive process improvements
  • Support other functions as needed for special projects

What We are Looking For:

  • Bachelors degree with a concentration Accounting Bachelors degree is Finance also considered
  • 2-5 years of proven experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to standard cost is required
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions as the need arises.
  • Ability to explain results to Management and make data-driven recommendations
  • Experience using SAP or ERP System is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite including solid Excel skills
  • Travel requirements up to 5-10% as needed.
