It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

Reporting to the Warden I this position will direct the Programs Department for the rehabilitation & reentry of male offenders in a minimum custody correctional facility. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Functioning as an assistant to the Warden I of the correctional center while offering a variety of Programs services to the offender population.

2. Directing a major program in an area or on a statewide basis. The primary programs areas are offender classification correctional programs (adult basic education incentive wage recreation religion and volunteer programs) and supportive counseling.

3. Supervising subordinate personnel who are responsible for the daily implementation development and maintenance of the programs.

4. Performing other duties as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Documented experience with report writing.
• Documented knowledge of case management practices or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withestablished working hours of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

About Randolph Correctional Center

Randolph Correctional Center is a 226-bed minimum custody male facility located in Asheboro NC Randolph County. Randolph Community College works with the prison to provide adult education and preparation for GED test for offenders. Offenders may also be assigned to work in various capacities such as amaintenance worker librarian recreation clerk barber canteen operator or as clothes house or kitchen help at the prison.

Minimum Education and Experience
