Job Summary
Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of over 245000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. The Coordinator Public Spaces Planning and Design is responsible for planning and designing sustainable fit for purpose open space and facilities as well as managing relationships to support sporting and recreational users. This includes developing and implementing Plans of Management Masterplans and designs for public spaces. The position will collaborate with staff across council stakeholders and users to provide the required level of service balanced by budget need and asset management planning.
The successful applicant will require:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture Sport Public Open Space Planning or a related discipline and/or significant relevant experience in a local government environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in leading and delivering successful public open space and facilities projects
- Analytical conceptual and problem-solving knowledge and skills with sound judgement and capacity to make recommendations where diverse interests need to be considered
- Demonstrated experience in effective communication with enhanced written and verbal communication skills experience in presentations and advanced community engagement skills
- Ability to prepare reports and provide technical public open space advice in response to organisational needs
- Significant experience with Local Government tendering and procurement procedures and policies
- Demonstrated ability to lead manage & supervise multiple disciplines to contribute to team goals and outcomes
- Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers customers and community organisations and an ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
- Be able to demonstrate a strong customer focus with sound customer service skills and the ability to embrace a system of change and continual improvement
- Computer literacy particularly in the MS Office suite of products
- Class C drivers licence.

About this role:
- Permanent full-time position
- 70 hour fortnight/week
- Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
- Located at Councils Auburn office with frequent travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 14 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $2303.00 to $2648.45 per week plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role
- Car allowance of $11608.48 per annum or a leaseback vehicle
