Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Sorority & Fraternity Life the Coordinator for Sorority & Fraternity Life plans coordinates implements and executes multiple initiatives related to the advisement education and support of the Universitys sororities and fraternities and their chapter operations. This includes advising chapter and council leadership development and delivery of educational content the active involvement in maintaining and communicating chapter status and assisting with internal and external responses and communications involving the sorority and fraternity community.

Essential Functions

Plans develops executes and evaluates comprehensive leadership educational and risk management program(s) for all members of the sorority/fraternity community including required trainings for organization/council officers and members.

Serves as the primary advisor for multiple governing councils.

Advises sorority/fraternity/ students on personal and organizational accountability self-governance shared standards and topics as appropriate to support student development.

Conducts workshops and seminars to instruct inform and/or train students on various sorority/fraternity topics including values-driven leadership organizational management inclusivity equity membership development peer-to-peer accountability recruitment and risk management.

Hires trains supervises and supports undergraduate students in their personal and professional development via weekly meetings oversight of responsibilities and job coaching.

Assists with the successful implementation/operation of the Expectations of Excellence program the Universitys expansion policy and other initiatives related to the proper functioning of the sorority/fraternity organizations on campus.

Actively keeps abreast of national and international sorority and fraternity policies trends and practices and assists with the development interpretation and enforcement of policy at the institutional level.

Provides on-site supervision of events/programs including nights and weekends.

Participates in staff on-call rotation.

Provides supports and participates in programs services and initiatives to focus on anti-racism social justice and the fostering of a campus community that is more diverse equitable and inclusive to all.

Identifies recommends and implements improvements related to policies procedures finance and operations of programs and services in the business office.

Assists in the collection and analysis of program evaluation/assessment data and the proposal of program/service improvement recommendations.

Serves on University/Department committees and attend Department staff meetings as required.

Responsible for assigned special projects programs or services which may be on-going or short-term.

Other Functions

Performs related duties as assigned or required. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX Clery and other compliance requirements.

Demonstrates capacity skill and willingness to engage students and contribute to student success.

Understands responsibilities with respect to conflicts of interest and behaves in ways consistent both with law and with University policy.

Contributes toward creating a positive and respectful workplace. Uses access to sensitive and/or not yet public university related information only in the performance of the responsibilities of position and exercises care to prevent unnecessary disclosure to others.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree.

One (1) year of post-graduate experience planning and conducting student leadership development/educational programs workshops or trainings.

Experience advising or supervising college students.

Demonstrated ability to communicate information effectively. Strong interpersonal skills.

Excellent leadership organizational and programming skills.

Proven ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent priorities within established time frames.

Knowledge and familiarity with harm reduction and risk management practices.

Established skills in typical office suite software such as Microsoft Office applications.

Articulate commitment to demonstrated understanding of and/or experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in a related field including but not limited to student affairs or student counseling.

Membership in an inter/national Greek lettered organization.

Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management.

Additional Details

Ability to access and reach training locations residence halls or off-campus housing for the purpose of responding to incidents and meeting with/training staff students or groups of students.

Occasional nights and weekends required.

Participate in on-call rotation.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an indoor university environment and involves lifting and transporting materials or equipment and general physical activity including prolonged standing walking or assuming low postures.
