Job Summary
- Manage volunteer applications and onboarding. Review and respond to incoming volunteer applications in a timely and professional manner. Conduct structured interviews to assess candidate suitability interests and alignment with organizational values. Ensure all onboarding requirements are met including background checks health screenings training modules and documentation compliance. Maintain accurate records of volunteer onboarding progress and follow up as needed to ensure readiness for placement.
- Facilitate hospital orientation through staff transition. Lead comprehensive hospital orientation sessions to familiarize new volunteers with policies procedures safety protocols and departmental expectations. Coordinate with department heads and volunteer leaders to ensure a seamless handoff and integration into assigned roles. Monitor initial volunteer engagement to confirm successful acclimation and address any early concerns or questions.
- Coordinate and monitor volunteer schedules. Develop and maintain detailed volunteer schedules across all hospital units ensuring adequate coverage and alignment with operational needs. Conduct periodic reviews of scheduling data to identify gaps trends or areas requiring additional support. Communicate regularly with volunteers and unit leaders to confirm availability resolve conflicts and optimize scheduling efficiency.
- Conduct volunteer rounding and barrier assessment. Routinely engage with volunteers during active shifts to assess satisfaction role clarity and any challenges encountered. Document and escalate any identified barrierssuch as workflow issues interpersonal conflicts or resource limitationsto appropriate stakeholders. Provide coaching support or adjustments to improve volunteer experience and retention.
- Support volunteer recruitment initiatives. Actively participate in recruitment events community outreach programs and promotional campaigns to attract new volunteers. Collaborate with marketing and public relations teams to develop materials and messaging that highlight the value of volunteer service. Build relationships with local schools universities and civic organizations to expand the volunteer pipeline.
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Associates Degree Business HR hospitality customer service social services behavioral sciences or related field
- 2 years of relevant experience volunteer oversight health care setting recruiting training coordinating recognizing volunteers volunteer & volunteer leader in a health care environment or demonstrated leadership ability Required
