Job Summary
Summary
The Cooking Tech 1 position performs the cooking of various meat products under the supervision and direction of the Pit Supervisor.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Performs the loading of raw meat product onto racks located inside the pits
Performs the unloading of cooked meat product out of the pits and onto racks
Identifies products and distinguishes between species
Performs the cleaning/washing down of a pit
Assembles and disassembles the racks inside the pits
Performs daily inspection of the bushings pins and washers on the racks
Transports racks full of meat from pits to the scale and then to the chill cell
Must be able to stand between 2 3 hours at a time
Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net use of gloves use of a company approved frock and rubber boots no jewelry no nail polish or artificial nails no shorts no open-toed shoes no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing no chewing gum candy or tobacco.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to hot temperatures as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The employee is also exposed to high levels of smoke produced by the burning wood. The floors in the environment are often wet and/or greasy and can be slippery.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Frequent use/motion of hands wrists and arms are required
The employee is often required to stoop kneel crouch or bend
The employee will frequently handle both cold and hot meat products (protective gloves are provided)
