Metz Culinary Management is seeking dependable team-oriented Cooks to join our dining team at Freed-Hardeman University.

This position supports our residential dining and catering operations and may include food preparation cooking serving and production for a variety of dining stations and special events. Depending on experience and operational needs team members may work in areas such as the main entrée station grill pizza deli salad bar specialty stations prep kitchen or catering.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in preparing quality food maintaining a clean and organized work area and providing a great dining experience for our students faculty staff and guests.

• Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and production needs.
• Wash cut slice chop portion and prepare ingredients for daily production.
• Work assigned cooking or service stations during meal periods.
• Assist with batch cooking and advance preparation for upcoming meals and events.
• Monitor food quality appearance portioning and proper temperatures.
• Follow established food safety sanitation labeling dating and storage procedures.
• Maintain clean safe and organized workstations and equipment.
• Properly rotate and store food products using FIFO procedures.
• Assist with catering production setup service and breakdown as needed.
• Support other kitchen and dining areas based on operational needs.
• Work cooperatively with cooks supervisors and other members of the dining team.

• Previous cooking food preparation restaurant catering or institutional dining experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety practices is preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes production sheets and instructions.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn and assist in different areas of the operation.

This position requires frequent standing walking bending reaching lifting pushing and pulling. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in kitchen dining storage cooler freezer and catering environments.

Schedules may include daytime evening and weekend shifts as well as occasional special events based on university dining needs.

Experience is a plus in a Food Service setting such as Hospital School or College desired but the door is open for all motivated individuals who understand the basics and bring a positive energy to the team!

LINE AND PREP COOKS:Prepare and present DELICIOUS meals and IMPRESSIVE presentations following our Executive Chef to inventory and portion assist in kitchen to include prep dish room dry stock and perishable food inventories and sanitation. Experience as a cook or culinary schooling would be ideal but we willing to train the right person with a passion for is a great opportunity for growth!
