Controller

Baylands Family Credit Union is seeking a Controller to lead our accounting financial reporting and electronic services functions. Reporting directly to the President/CEO this role is responsible for the credit unions general ledger month-end close financial reporting budgeting forecasting internal controls audits regulatory reporting cash management investments asset/liability management and electronic services operations.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced accountant or finance professional who is ready to take ownership of an accounting environment lead a team and grow into broader credit union operations.

• Lead daily accounting and financial operations including general ledger activity reconciliations journal entries and month-end and year-end close
• Prepare financial statements management reports budgets forecasts and financial analysis
• Support NCUA Call Reports regulatory examinations audits and compliance requirements
• Maintain strong internal controls accounting procedures and financial policies
• Support cash management liquidity investments and asset/liability management (ALM)
• Partner with the President/CEO and leadership team on financial planning and decision-making
• Communicate financial information to leadership and the Board
• Lead and develop accounting and electronic services team members
• Oversee electronic services including ACH debit cards ATMs online banking mobile banking bill pay mobile deposit eStatements and payment operations
• Work with vendors and internal partners to resolve operational issues and improve processes

• Strong accounting experience in general ledger reconciliations financial reporting and month-end close
• Knowledge of GAAP budgeting forecasting internal controls financial analysis and audits
• Strong Excel analytical organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and financial or regulatory deadlines
• Leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to lead a team
• Credit union banking financial institution nonprofit or regulated-industry experience is preferred
• Experience with NCUA reporting ALM investments ACH electronic banking digital banking or payment services is a plus

You do not need experience in every area listed above. We are looking first for a strong accountant who can manage an accounting environment and is ready to grow into the credit union-specific leadership and electronic-services responsibilities of the position.

This is a full-time and onsite position located in West Point Virginia. Typical business hours are Monday through Friday with additional hours occasionally required for month-end close budgeting audits examinations and regulatory deadlines.
