Job Summary

The Role

The Consulting Actuary is a senior member of the Life Technology Solutions Professional Services team responsible for leading client engagements supporting delivery excellence and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

This role combines actuarialexpertisewith a strong focus on technology-enabled transformation in the life insurance industry workingclosely with clients to modernize actuarial processesimproveoperational effectiveness and support the adoption of advanced analytics and next-generation platforms.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to client engagements focused on actuarial transformation and technology implementation.
  • Support business development activities including proposals client discussions and solution design.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in actuarial modernization operating model design and data-driven decision-making.
  • Mentor and develop junior actuarial and technical staff.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal development teams to ensure solutions meet market needs.
  • Contribute to practice growth knowledge sharing and internal capability development.
  • Stay current with industry trends in actuarial practice technology and advanced analytics.

Additional Focus

  • Advise clients on modernizing actuarial workflows and improving efficiency through technology and data integration.
  • Support the evolution of scalable production-ready solutions that enhance actuarial and risk capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on actuarial transformation and operating model improvement.

Job Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a similar mathematical or quantitative program of study
  • Attainment of the FSA designation with the Society of Actuaries (SOA)
  • Minimum of10years of full-time work experience in an actuarial role preferably in a professional services environment
  • Experience in financial modeling using actuarial modeling software ( MG-ALFA Excel)

Experience and Soft Skills Required

  • Strong quantitative background
  • SASproficiency
  • Insurance product modeling experience and MG-ALFA experience in particular
  • Exceptional oral written and presentation skills and the ability to convey complex ideas to clients and team members.
  • Ability to analyze and apply creative problem solving both independently and within a team
  • Self-motivated individual with a sense of intellectual curiosity and a results-oriented work ethic
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasksprioritizingand meeting deadlines whilemaintainingappropriate focuson details
  • Demonstration ofa consulting mindset and approach to working with clients to deliver exceptional value and service. Progress to ownership of client relationships.
  • The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment where the client is always first
  • Sharp critical thinking skills soundjudgmentand decision-making ability and both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas

  • Business development skills and approachforourproducts and services.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and critical thought and ability to evaluate ideas and implement.
  • Thought leadership in the industry andrepresentingMilliman at conferences/events andin white papers to share forward-thinking ideas.
  • If growth into a people management role is desired develop delegation project management and leadership skills

Location

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago IL on a weekly basis but flexible work arrangements will be considered. The expected application deadline for this job is June 19 2026.

Compensation

The overall range for this role is $134435 - $242650 USD. A combination of factors will be considered including but not limited to education relevant work experience qualifications skills certifications etc.
