Job Summary
MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support a major construction project at an existing industrial/manufacturing facility in Orange County California. This contract assignment is expected to begin in late August and potentially continue through the end of the year.
The Construction Project Manager will serve as the Owners Project Management Representative providing on-site leadership and oversight of contractors subcontractors construction activities and inspections associated with a chemical-related project.
This individual will be responsible for driving the project team to meet construction schedules budgets safety requirements quality standards and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager will serve as a primary interface with subcontractors while communicating project progress risks milestones and overall status to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the Owners Project Management Representative and provide daily on-site leadership for assigned construction activities.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans schedules milestones budgets and deliverables.
- Manage project scope and ensure customer and business requirements are successfully incorporated into project execution.
- Maintain strict adherence to established schedule budget quality safety and regulatory requirements.
- Provide direct oversight of contractors and subcontractors performing construction and inspection activities.
- Monitor construction progress daily and conduct periodic inspections of active construction areas.
- Lead regular project status meetings with contractors subcontractors project teams and other stakeholders.
- Track critical-path activities and identify potential issues that could affect project completion.
- Develop mitigation and recovery plans when schedule cost quality or construction issues arise.
- Review project costs schedules risks and progress and prepare regular status reports and executive summaries.
- Communicate project updates to leadership business partners customers and other key stakeholders.
- Establish strong working relationships with operational leaders contractors subcontractors and third-party partners.
- Drive contractors and project teams toward timely resolution of issues affecting project performance.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications established standards and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with facility security and appropriate personnel regarding security approval processes associated with construction activities.
- Identify and anticipate technical problems and develop practical solutions to minimize project impacts.
- Provide recommendations and alternatives regarding critical project and business issues.
- Support the successful introduction of new equipment processes construction activities and facility changes within an active manufacturing environment.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Science Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction project management experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial construction means and methods.
- Experience managing construction within industrial or manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with new construction and renovation projects within complex active operating environments.
- Previous construction supervision and/or construction management experience.
- Experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
- Industrial construction experience involving manufacturing facilities including major equipment moves facility relocations or similar complex projects.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling critical-path activities budgets quality and safety requirements.
- Ability to assess project progress and identify potential impacts to the overall construction schedule.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership contractors customers and project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word Excel PowerPoint email and scheduling applications.
- Ability to work effectively with both on-site and remote project team members.
- Must be available to work on-site in Orange County CA from 4:00 PM 12:00 AM.
- Due to export compliance requirements candidates must qualify as a U.S. Person.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing construction experience.
- Experience supporting construction within chemical-related manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing transformational projects within active manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with complex manufacturing launch projects.
- Experience coordinating major equipment installations facility moves or manufacturing relocations.
- Experience managing high-profile schedule-driven construction projects involving multiple contractors and stakeholders.
