Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections to ensure construction aligns with plans specifications and applicable standards
  • Collect materials samples (soil concrete asphalt) and document testing results
  • Monitor construction quality progress and workmanship
  • Maintain accurate daily reports logs and photo documentation
  • Identify and communicate non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with PennDOT NYSDOT local and federal requirements
  • Observe document and report jobsite safety concerns
Requirements
  • B.S. in Engineering Science Environmental or related field preferred
  • Experience in construction inspection civil engineering or construction management preferred
  • Familiarity with roadway bridge or heavy civil construction preferred (PennDOT or NYSDOT experience preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Certifications are a plus or willingness to obtain: ACI Field Testing Technician NICET Highway Construction PennDOT Concrete NECEPT Asphalt

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to safely access and navigate active construction sites
  • Capable of walking on uneven terrain
  • Work environments may include office and field settings with exposure to dust noise fumes and weather conditions
