Job Summary
Construction Dump Truck Driver Core Skill Areas & Responsibilities:
1. Safe Operation of Commercial Vehicles:
- Operate dump trucks to haul asphalt aggregate or other construction materials safely and efficiently.
- Navigate active job sites and public roads with full awareness of surroundings pedestrians and other vehicles.
- Adhere to posted speed limits and traffic laws including those specific to construction areas.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain an up-to-date driver log book and ensure full compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Perform and document daily vehicle inspections including checks on tires brakes lights safety equipment and placards (if applicable).
- Accurately report mechanical issues or maintenance needs to dispatch or supervisors.
3. Time & Route Management:
- Follow delivery schedules and project timelines with a strong focus on punctuality and efficiency.
- Plan routes and adapt to delays due to traffic construction or weather conditions.
- Coordinate with site personnel for safe dumping and material placement.

- Safe Driving Practices Maintains a clean driving record and prioritizes safety at all times.
- Regulatory Knowledge Understands and complies with DOT FMCSA and hazardous materials transportation laws.
- Communication Effectively communicates with dispatchers supervisors and on-site personnel.
- Recordkeeping Diligent with logbooks inspection forms and other required documentation.
- Flexibility Willing to work overtime nights weekends or various shifts as needed.
- Endurance Able to sit for long periods and remain alert and focused throughout extended hauls.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma GED or equivalent required.
- Valid Class A CDL (Hazmat and Tanker endorsements are a plus or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Minimum 13 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Valid DOT medical card and clean driving record required.
- Experience transporting asphalt aggregates or construction materials is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Extended periods of sitting while operating vehicles.
- Exposure to all weather conditions and construction site environments.
- May be required to work overtime nights weekends and flexible shifts. EOE/M/F/Disabled/Veteran/DFSP
