Compensation Analyst

General Description:
The Compensation Analyst supports the firms compensation strategy by assisting with the analysis administration and maintenance of compensation programs across domestic and international offices. This role partners closely with Human Resources team members and HR leadership to provide data-driven insights ensure internal equity and maintain competitive compensation practices.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Support the administration of the firms compensation processes including annual increase and bonus cycles for non-partner paralegal and staff populations.
- Assist in reviewing salary and bonus recommendations by preparing data conducting analyses and identifying potential inconsistencies or issues.
- Conduct market research and analyze competitive compensation data to support pay recommendations for open and newly created positions.
- Maintain and update compensation data within the firms market pricing tool (Payfactors) to ensure accurate benchmarking.
- Prepare compensation survey submissions and assist in gathering data for benchmarking and budgeting purposes.
- Provide compensation-related support to HR team members by answering questions preparing reports and supplying relevant data.
- Assist with job description updates and support the job classification process including FLSA EEOC and salary grade assignments for new roles.
- Partner with HRIS staff to ensure Workday compensation dataincluding salary structures job profiles and pay changesis accurate and up to date.
- Support process improvement efforts by identifying and recommending opportunities to streamline compensation workflows and enhance automation within Workday.
- Help ensure compensation practices comply with federal state and local laws and regulations.
- Participate in special projects and other compensation-related initiatives as assigned.
- Expected to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full attention to and engagement in work activities on behalf of the firm during business hours unless otherwise approved or required by applicable law.
Required Skills:
- Foundational knowledge of compensation principles market pricing and job evaluation methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data identify trends and present findings clearly.
- Proficiency with HCM systems; experience with Workday and Payfactors is a plus.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including vlookups and pivot tables.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Knowledge of federal and state compensation and wage-and-hour regulations.
- Knowledge or ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft 365.
Required Qualifications & Education:
- 24 years of experience in compensation HR analytics or a related HR function; law firm experience a plus.
- Bachelors degree required preferably in Human Resources Business Finance Economics or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications & Education:
- CCP coursework or certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
