Services are provided Monday through Friday with some programs requiring evening hours.
TheBehavioral Health Services (BHS) Division consists of the following service areas Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health Children and Youth Services Quality Management Services Mental Health Services Act Office Data Analytics and Evaluation Crisis and Acute Care Services Substance Use Services BHS Navigation and Forensics and Justice Involved. These service areas provide a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care.
THE PROGRAM
Substance Use Disorder Services (SUD) provides an array of prevention treatment and recovery support services for youth and adults that include the Alcohol and Drug Education and Prevention Team (ADEPT) community SUD prevention programs residential Treatment outpatient treatment perinatal services narcotic treatment programs (NTP) Medicated Assistance Treatment (MAT) withdrawal management Intensive Outpatient Program recovery residences and the programmatic oversight of the States Opioid Abatement Funding Plan in Orange County.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The SUD Division has an opening for a Community Worker II (CW II). The CW II will be responsible for providing childcare (not treatment) to minors between the ages of 0-12 years old conducting drug screens data entry and providing administrative support to the program and team. The CW II will also enter test results into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system send out notifications using Outlook when positive results are received and fax results to Social Services.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
While not required the ideal candidate will possess experience providing support childcare and/or services to minors and/or experience working within a behavioral health setting. Bilingual skills especially in Spanish are also highly desirable but not required.
In addition the ideal candidate will also possess extensive knowledge and experience in the following core competencies:
Professional & Technical Expertise Safety Focus- Understanding of and navigating through behavioral health issues stages of childrens development and age-appropriate behavior of children
- Facilitating age-appropriate activities when supervising minors
- Ensuring the safety of children who are being supervised
- Identifying signs of suspected child abuse or neglect that may necessitate contacting the Child Abuse Registry
- Observing and analyzing behavior and appropriateness for the situation
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook
Communication Customer Service
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
- Providing excellent customer service by treating co-workers clients and the public with dignity and respect
Adaptability Self-Management
- Working independently and in a team
- Adapting to new information or unexpected program obstacles
- Working effectively in a changing environment and adjusting as needed
Human Resource Services (HRS) will screen all application materials to identify qualified applicants. After screening qualified applicants will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.

Applications and supplemental responses will be screened for qualifications that are highly desirable and most needed to successfully perform the duties of the job. Only those applicants that meet the qualifications as listed in the job bulletin will be referred to the next step.
Online Assessments (Weighted 100%)
Applicants who meet desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in one or more job related assessments. Only the most qualified candidates will be placed on the eligible list
Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.Based on the Departments needs the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.
