Job Summary
Provides services to pharmacy customers through performance of pharmacy technician duties.
Performs operational tasks that support departmental responsibilities and goals. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist participates in pharmaceutical care such as medication usage evaluations pharmacokinetics and therapeutic drug review. Practices proper aseptic technique and sterile preparation. Maintains compliance with statutes laws regulations standards and policies governing the practice of pharmacy.
Interacts with individuals at all levels of the organization as necessary using whatever communication means are needed (e.g. e-mail phone calls face to face meetings).
Manages data and information and prepares reports and/or project summaries.
Serves and participates on work teams as assigned. Actively participates in staff and committee meetings as assigned. Completes a project designed to benefit the healthcare system.
Exercises technical abilities with respective software to support project and/or operational tasks.
Proactively seeks out duties and responsibilities and appropriately prioritizes assignments.
Meets with Manager/Mentor on a regular basis to discuss completed items projects in progress and potential projects.
Education: Currently enrolled in an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or college of pharmacy in candidate status for ACPE accreditation
Experience: Currently completing the first or second year of a Doctor of Pharmacy program.
License certification and/or registration: Virginia Pharmacy Intern License required by first day of employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to be familiar with a large number of medications including common strengths dosage forms and uses. Attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient computer and keyboard skills. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to work efficiently manage time wisely and follow policy and procedures with minimal supervision. Must have good interpersonal communication and listening skills.
