Join Washington Countys Community Corrections Center as a variable hour Community Correction Specialist I! Both bilingual and non-bilingual individuals are encouraged to position offers a flexible schedule and is a perfect way to gain experience working in the Community Corrections field!Individuals in this position can work up to 20 hours a week (must be at least 21 years of age).
Washington Countys Community Corrections Center is a 24-hour 7-days per week minimum security facility. This 215-bed facility provides justice involved adults with a structured living environment while focusing on accountability employment and skill-building. As a Community Corrections Specialist I your responsibilities includemonitoringthe daily activities of justice involved adults (residents);maintainingsecurity; coordinating the activities of residents; and making certain residents follow the facility regulations or procedures as well as interact with residents by providing information andassistance. This position works within a facilityoperating24hourper day 7 days per week.
This position is at-will and willaccruesick time; however this position is not eligible for medical dental or vision benefits.
IdealKnowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Behavior and adjustment problems of adult offenders; Counseling techniques used to encourage behavioral change and appropriate life decisions; Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words rules of composition and grammar; Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers supervisors residents or the public from diverse groups and backgrounds; Effectively communicate with persons of varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds; Make immediate decisions when dealing with crisis situations; Maintain composure keep emotions in check control anger and avoid aggressive behavior even in very difficult situations.
Shift Differential
Employees working6:00am 4:30pm (Day Shift) receive base pay; employees working2:00pm 12:30am (Swing Shift) receive one dollar ($1.00) per hour shift differential; employees working 10:00pm 8:30am (Night Shift) receive one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) shift differential per hour.
How Scheduling Works
Each month by the 10th you will give your availability for the following month.
There are three (3) shifts available each 6 10 hours long inlength(day swing night).
You will provide at least 10 shifts you are available to workthe following month. This could be a combination of day swing and night shifts.
*All on-call staff must be available to work two (2) night shifts per month.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
One (1) year of college coursework. Educationmustinclude some coursework in correctional studies the social and behavioral sciences or a related field to bequalifying;OR
One (1) year of experience in a correctional or residential treatment facility for juvenile or adult offenders.
Additional Requirements
Mustpass a comprehensive background investigation.
Must be able to pass a post-offer psychological assessment prior to appointment.
Work varied shifts including weekends evenings nights and holidays.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Possess a valid Oregon State Class C drivers license and acceptable drivingrecordperWashington County policy.
Obtain andmaintainfirst aid/AED/CPR certification.
Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment prior to appointment.
