Job Summary
The New Jersey Working Families Alliance is seeking a detail-oriented and multi-talented individual to fill the critical community and digital organizing role. The Community and Digital Organizer role includes organizing regional coalitions and civic action sessions assisting with training for non-partisan voter engagement recruiting new activists and volunteers to join New Jersey Wolf Packs and building leadership within the grassroots groups as well as supporting the work of the We the People NJ Civic Engagement Table. It will also include digital organizing and content creation. The ideal candidate will possess community organizing and digital skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build community power in New Jersey and help shape the future of progressive politics in New Jersey. This position will be supervised by the New Jersey Working Families Alliance Director of Democracy Organizing and includes opportunities for professional development in organizing elections legislative work and communications.
Work with team on strategic goals and in support of NJWFA and NJWFP initiatives and candidates in New Jersey
Build digital and grassroots support for NJWFP electoral programs
Create compelling digital campaigns that tell the story of NJWFA and NJWFP progressive bold campaigns vision and leaders with support and oversight from the Director of Democracy Organizing
Produce creative content for NJWFA and NJWFP social networking sites
Assist in the execution of rapid response social media
Assist with building the We the People Civic Engagement table through digital and organizing
Organize bi-monthly regional coalition meetings with groups in North Central and South Jersey
Recruit and support members to lead local activist and volunteer community in coordination with Organizing and Technology staff leads
Supports identifying and building alliances with other organizations
Evaluates changing conditions and modifies plans accordingly
Fundraising
Staff NJWFA and NJWFP fundraisers
Participate in annual membership drives
A sincere passion and commitment to fighting for social economic and racial justice and building power for working people
Preferred: 3 to 5 years (or more) experience in digital organizing and storytelling.
1-3 cycles of experience organizing including field strategy and management experience
Experience working in both electoral and issue campaigns that advance the progressive movement
Excellent listening interpersonal communication and problem solving skills;
A willingness to learn the ability to work hard with irregular hours and the ability to work independently with guidance as well as within a team.
Proven organizing ability and effectiveness engaging potential activists supporters institutional leaders and current and prospective elected officials.
Ability to train and develop skills of volunteer leaders
Demonstrated ability to cultivate powerful relationships and build alliances with other organizations which can influence decision-makers
Aptitude with CRMs (Every Action VAN/Votivate)
The final salary offer will fall into one of the following ranges depending on where you live:
Base Market B (e.g. Camden) $57400.00 - $75900.00
Very High Market (e.g. Jersey City) $68100.00 - $90000.00
