Position Summary:
The Office of Government Relations and Economic Development at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Communication Marketing and Event Coordinator for Business and Economic Development in Boca Raton FL.
The Communications Marketing and Event Coordinator is responsible for the marketing creative communications and event function for the Business and Economic Development unit at Florida Atlantic University. This is a highly visible role for a hands-on creative professional who takes charge of the units public presence drives participant recruitment across every program and serves as an on-the-ground ambassador for the units work throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Business and Economic Development the Coordinator designs and executes the units integrated communications strategy; independently produces the creative assets campaigns and collateral required to fill programs and events; plans and delivers workshops trainings and signature convenings; and manages the marketing and event data that support grant reporting funder compliance and continuous improvement. The Coordinator is the creative engine and operational backbone that ensures the units programs are seen understood attended and remembered. End Date: Sept 30 2026 and renewable per grant cycles.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Duties are organized below into five accountability areas. The coordinator is expected to lead and execute across all five.
- Designs executes and continuously improves the integrated communications and marketing strategy for the unit and each of its programs in alignment with unit goals grant deliverables and the strategic priorities of funders and the host institution.
- Sets the creative direction editorial voice and campaign calendar for unit-wide communications ensuring consistency across programs and audiences.
- Works directly with the AVP and program leadership to align messaging and creative strategy with unit priorities program milestones and reporting cycles.
- Ensures every communication and marketing piece complies with Florida Atlantic University branding standards and with the co-branding logo usage and acknowledgment requirements of program sponsors and funders including the SBA and DoW.
- Independently produces the full range of creative assets required by the unit: flyers one-pagers brochures digital ads event graphics presentation decks video snippets social media content newsletters email campaigns web copy signage and event collateral.
- Writes designs and adapts materials for multiple audiences (entrepreneurs established businesses manufacturers procurement contractors community partners funders and internal stakeholders) and where appropriate in both English and Spanish.
- Manages the units social media accounts and content calendars ensuring consistent voice active engagement and timely posting across platforms.
- Plans coordinates and executes the full lifecycle of the units events trainings workshops pitch sessions reverse trade shows and networking activities including logistics venue selection vendor and sponsor coordination registration management run-of-show and on-site delivery.
- Owns participant recruitment. Designs and runs the outreach campaigns referral partnerships and audience-development tactics needed to hit or exceed target attendance for every event workshop and cohort the unit produces. Activities coordinated with other key staff and stakeholders.
- Manages pre-event promotion and post-event follow-up in coordination with program staff ensuring attendees convert into clients referrals or engaged community partners. It includes reporting and maintaining good standing in KPIs related to the unit.
- Attends and staffs events on a variable schedule including evenings and weekends at locations across Broward and Palm Beach Counties. It requires business or business casual attire and on-the-region travel.
- Manages all data related to marketing communications and events including audience lists campaign performance registration and attendance records and outreach touchpoints. The programs are aligned to a rigorous non-disclosure agreement and confidentiality policy.
- Tracks and reports on marketing and event metrics social media engagement campaign reach email performance event attendance participant demographics and outreach coverage to support program dashboards funder reporting and grant compliance requirements.
- Maintains an organized accessible archive of marketing materials event documentation branded templates photos and video assets for use across the units programs.
- Ensures all activities are logged in the required reporting platforms and that partnership and outreach activity is documented for KPI and audit purposes.
- Serves as a public-facing ambassador for the units programs at community events partner meetings chamber and municipal convenings and outreach activities representing the units brand and value proposition with clarity and professionalism.
- Builds and maintains working relationships with program staff consultants external partners sponsors media contacts and referral organizations to source content confirm event details and secure promotional support.
- Represents the unit at trainings and outreach activities on the schedule required by program needs and actively cultivates new promotional and partnership opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in marketing communications public relations graphic design or a related field and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four years in marketing communications or event coordination required.Demonstrated proficiency in design and content-creation tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite Canva) social media management platforms and email marketing systems is expected.
Excellent writing and communication skills.

This position is subject to grant funding.Temporary positions are not established positions and are paid from OPS funds. Temporary positions are usually not eligible for benefits and retirement; however they may be eligible for health insurance coverage depending on the average hours worked per week.
