Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commodity Specialist is responsible for the administration of the USDA Foods (Commodities) program of our client school districts. This requires analyzing the effectiveness of the Commodities program at each of our client school districts reviewing the ordering and receipts of inventory in our proprietary BOSS operating system and updating the Pricing Specialist of changes on a weekly basis. This role will have hands-on daily interaction with key managers to ensure proper execution of the Commodities program at each school district.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Commodity Price updates and other BOSS Systems Responsibilities

Verify contracted pricing and commodity values are accurate for all distributors.

Verify weekly price updates on commodity DOD items are accurate for all distributors.

Update the Pricing Specialist weekly and monthly for changes in BOSS as required for State delivered commodities.

Analyze proper utilization of Commodities at each district weekly monthly and annually for Field

Management

Oversee individual district spending in relation to budget and allocation of entitlement to match company financials and receipts

Develop and facilitate district plans for ordering to insure 100% utilization

Reconcile information between various third-party data management websites our distributors and BOSS.

Assist Director Supplier Relations and Pricing Specialist with building the Commodity Order Guide each year.

Assist in selection of USDA commodities for future use through analysis of cost ration compared to

commercial purchases.

Develop reports to track types of exceptions created by improper entry by Field team members regarding companys products pricing etc. preparing and analyzing meaningful reports for use by the Director Supplier Relations.

Maintain weekly tracking reports for Commodities: DOD and NOI and monthly reports on State delivered USDA Commodities to ensure proper receipt into BOSS and credit issued to our District partners.

Maintain Power BI dashboard for quick reference for Senior and Field Management

Work directly with distributor commodity teams for all USDA commodity issues and evaluation of reporting

Work directly with State Agencies to review and reconcile commodity receipts and issues

Perform other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: BA/BS Degree in a related field preferred but not required

Experience:

3-5 years accounting experience in accounting/invoice receiving/reconciliation preferred but not required.

Strong analytical and reporting skills

Experience with usage of inventory/ordering systems required.

Strong ability to integrate and communicate effectively orally or in writing internally in the organization.

Able to effectively write business correspondence and memos/emails.

Ability to foster positive relationships and strong internal partnerships.

Strong project management skills with ability to lead and motivate teammates.

Team player who is responsive respectful of others and willing to roll up sleeves and work with team members at all levels to accomplish tasks.

Proven track record as a high-performing self-starter who accepts responsibility for accomplishing personal goals.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint).

Willingness to travel (less than 10%).
