Commissioning Intern
Position Description

Commissioning Intern at Cushing Terrell. This is an in-person internship supporting our Commissioning team on real client projects.

What does this role involve day to day You will learn the entire commissioning process from start to finish reviewing construction documents and gaining hands-on experience testing HVAC equipment using building automation systems.

What will I create You will help develop commissioning documentation using commissioning-specific software and support clients and contractors in closing out high-performance projects.

What does success look like in this internship You will participate in site visits throughout construction and the testing phase build a working understanding of automation HVAC and building performance systems and leave with a clear picture of what it means to work in the AEC industry.

Position Wage Range*

The expected wage range for this position is $21.00 to $26.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications**
  • Completion of 3 years of a mechanical engineering or related undergraduate program
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite Microsoft Office Suite Outlook and Bluebeam
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with team members across disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications**
  • Exposure to building automation systems
  • Interest in the commissioning process or high-performance building systems
  • Familiarity with commissioning-specific software
  • Interest in construction document review

Position Responsibilities***
  • Learn the commissioning process from start to finish using commissioning-specific software
  • Assist with testing HVAC equipment using building automation systems

  • Participate in site visits throughout construction and the testing phase
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on active commissioning projects
  • Gain exposure to the variety of project types and teams across the firm

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidates years of experience licensure status location level of proficiency and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.

***The majority of the time a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend stretch twist and reach.
