Commercial Vehicle Technician

The Vehicle Upfit Technician installs and assembles equipment storage and accessory systems into work vehicles for trade businesses shelving and racking drawer and cabinet units partitions and bulkheads ladder and roof racks interior LED lighting and 12V auxiliary power. Working primarily out of the TradeWraps shop in Manassas this role turns standard vans and trucks into fully outfitted job-ready vehicles. The technician owns clean accurate on-time installs that meet the TradeWraps quality standard the first time directly minimizing customer downtime and getting trade businesses back on the road.

• Install shelving racking and storage systems into vans and trucks to spec and per manufacturer guidelines.
• Assemble and mount drawer units cabinets partitions and bulkheads.
• Install ladder racks roof racks and exterior accessories securely and safely.
• Install interior LED lighting 12V auxiliary power inverters and related wiring.
• Mount equipment tool holders and job-specific accessories to OEM and safety standards.
• Read and interpret installation diagrams work orders and product instructions to build to spec.
• Operate power tools and hand tools accurately and safely including drilling and fastening into vehicle bodies.
• Inspect every completed upfit for fit function quality and safety before delivery inspect what you expect.
• Track materials used and work completed for each vehicle.
• Maintain a clean organized and safe work area and properly care for tools and shop equipment.
• Communicate build progress parts needs and issues to the Ops Manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency with power tools and hand tools.
• Automotive industry knowledge.
• Proven experience as an automotive parts installer or in a similar hands-on role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Able to read and follow installation diagrams schematics and work orders.
• Working understanding of basic 12V electrical and wiring.

Education & Experience

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• Proven experience as an automotive parts installer upfitter or similar role required.
• Automotive industry knowledge required.
• Proficiency with power tools and hand tools required.
• Valid drivers license and clean driving record required.
• Automotive electrical or related trade certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to spend prolonged periods standing walking kneeling bending crouching and reaching.
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment exposed to excessive noise and to cold or heat.
• Ability to work in and around vehicles including enclosed cargo areas.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Perform work with OSHA-required PPE.
