Job Summary

Full-time Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama insurance for medical prescription dental and vision. Vacation holidays and sick leave. State Retirement. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Landscape Technician to join our team and maintain the overall appearance and functionality of our grounds. As a Landscape Technician you will be responsible for performing a variety of landscaping and maintenance tasks to ensure our outdoor spaces are clean attractive and safe. This position requires a strong work ethic attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Landscaping Maintenance: Perform routine landscaping tasks such as trimming and watering lawns shrubs and flower beds to maintain a neat and visually appealing appearance.
  • Planting and Cultivating: Assist in planting and cultivating various types of plants flowers trees and shrubs according to seasonal requirements.
  • Pest and Weed Control: Monitor and control pests insects and weeds using safe and appropriate methods ensuring the health and vitality of plants and lawns.
  • Irrigation System Maintenance with Facility Staff assistance: Maintain and repair irrigation systems to ensure proper watering and distribution throughout the grounds.
  • Trash and Debris Removal: Regularly collect and dispose of landscape trash leaves and other debris from the grounds sidewalks pathways and parking to maintain cleanliness.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean inspect and maintain groundskeeping tools and equipment reporting any malfunctions or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Seasonal Tasks: Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal leaf raking and salting pathways as required.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations using personal protective equipment when necessary and reporting any safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed materials used and time spent on various tasks in the FMX software system providing regular updates to the supervisor.
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and ability to follow established guidelines.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to operate groundskeeping vehicles as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; landscaping or horticulture courses beneficial.

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years in landscaping or groundskeeping; commercial experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of landscaping practices plant care and grounds maintenance techniques.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment such as trimmers and irrigation systems. Prior man lift equipment experience preferred but training is done onsite.
  • Ability to identify and address common pest and weed issues effectively and safely.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and appearance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Walking and climbing (stairs) to access other departments and buildings.
  • Carrying and lifting supplies and equipment up to 75 pounds to waist height.
  • Bending kneeling reaching to store & retrieve supplies to maintain high & low areas and maneuver equipment.
  • Sight wrist movements feeling to preform work tasks and to use tools and equipment.
  • Talking and Hearing to communicate with supervisor(s) guests and employees in person.
  • Ability to be trained to use Lift Equipment and Operate Man Lifts to complete job duties.

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA safety certification pesticide applicator license.

Environmental Factors:

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Normal work hours Monday Friday coordinated with manager.
