LOCATION: Hybrid (on-site remote)

REPORTS TO: Director of College Access/Success

STATUS: Full-time Non-exempt

OPPORTUNITY

The College & Career Coach is an advanced student-facing position designed for experienced student advisors who drive deep community impact. Serving as the primary lead for school and campus partnerships the Coach manages larger and more complex student caseloads. Though this role does not directly manage personnel they do provide critical mentorship guidance and training support to our College Fellows. This role blends advanced direct service with internal leadership to maintain high-quality student programming across diverse educational ecosystems.

To perform the essential functions of this position employees may be required to:

  • Sit stand talk hear reach stoop kneel and use hands and fingers to operate a computer telephone and keyboard.

  • Have a reliable means of transportation to attend regular work as well as other off-site business functions.

Requirements

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Advanced Caseload Advising: Demonstrates the ability to successfully guide large complex student caseloads through intricate milestones to ensure optimal retention and persistence.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Serves as an effective primary liaison by building trusted high-impact relationships with school personnel donors and CBOs to seamlessly integrate programming.
  • Mentorship & Talent Development: Accelerates the professional growth training and operational readiness of College Fellows by providing guidance performance feedback and curriculum implementation support.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Evaluates curriculum effectiveness and drives regional impact through meticulous data tracking timely analysis and the regular generation of actionable program reports.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Advanced Advising & Student Engagement

  • Manage larger more complex student caseloads than entry-level Fellows navigating intricate financial aid and matriculation scenarios.
  • Provide direct student-facing support including delivering comprehensive workshops facilitating small-group sessions and conducting individual coaching.
  • Deliver specialized curriculum training and guidance to students and families regarding financial aid college choices and career pathways.
  • Maintain a consistent on-campus presence for student outreach engagement and direct service delivery.


Leadership & Mentoring

  • Act as the primary lead and communication contact for assigned school/campus partnerships managing relationships with institutional personnel local CBOs and community partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support and advance education initiatives.
  • Serve as an engaging mentor and guide to College Fellows assisting them with caseload management and the design implementation and delivery of curriculum programming.
  • Assist with the recruitment onboarding training and ongoing professional development of new Fellows.
  • Support Fellows in preparing for presentations at school public and community events.
  • Drive overall curriculum effectiveness assessments and maintain accurate data to generate program analysis reports.


General Responsibilities

  • Travel regularly within assigned region(s) to partner school campuses 10000 Degrees offices and special event locations.
  • Participate in staff meetings professional development activities and supervisor check-ins.
  • Support and represent 10000 Degrees at fundraising and appreciation events as needed.
  • Execute other duties as assigned to support the organizations evolving needs.
  • This position requires some in-person presence travel within the regions served and occasional evening and/or weekend hours.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3 years experience in a client- or student-service position
  • 3 years experience in financial aid navigation and college access/success matriculation steps
  • Geographic proximity to the region(s) being served and a reliable means of transportation to accommodate required regional travel
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
  • High level of professionalism including promptness preparedness and professional appearance
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong administrative organization and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite applications Salesforce (or other CRM) and Canva or other presentation software
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and initiative including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to learn and be self-reflective
  • Lived experience aligned with the communities served by 10000 Degrees (e.g. first-generation college graduates or low-income background) is highly valued
  • Alumni of 10000 Degrees scholarships a plus
