Job Summary
Operates and maintains mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic collection system equipment for maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system within the Municipal Services Department. Calibrates and uses safety equipment and instruments. Maintains and performs repairs to department equipment and facilities. Uses personal computer and completes required paperwork i.e. activity reports time records vehicle checklist etc. Communicates with sanitary sewer customers and citizens. Assists other division crews as necessary. Operates snow removal equipment as required. Performs related Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; and six (6) months to one year of progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education training and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Valid State Commercial Drivers License class B with Air Brakes and Tanker Vehicle Endorsements or permit and ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire. Knowledge of operation construction and maintenance of a sanitary and storm sewer system; operating of pressure cleaning equipment utilized in the maintenance of sanitary sewer systems; safety procedures utilized in the maintenance of sanitary sewer systems; computer applications related to the work; and the use of close circuit television system equipment. Skill in reading sanitary sewer system maps street maps and storm sewer maps and using a gas detector. Ability to communicate effectively with the public and to write Demands: Frequently required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands and arms climb or balance talk or hear and lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and/or move more than 100 Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and will work in wooded conditions. Will also need to be able to do confined space entry through a 24-inch opening. Working conditions are typically moderately loud. Must be able to work overtime and stand-by duty.
