Job Summary

Location: City of Douglas Police Department Closing date: Open until filledHourly Rate: Commensurate with experience. Additional compensation may Description: Will serve as a ride along partner with the City of Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sherrifs Office collaboratively responding to law enforcement calls for individuals involving mental health or substance abuse with law enforcement to engage individuals in treatment services and assist with reducing unnecessary arrests as part of a new program following the Co-Responder Act. Will work together to provide effective initial on-scene de-escalation and secondary linkage to support and resources for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance abuse-related crisis; provide outreach referrals and follow-up for community members affected by behavioral health : Full time; will work Monday FridayCompetencies: Knowledge of diagnostic impressions or criteria. Knowledge of how client advocacy system operates. Knowledge of engagement techniques. Knowledge of various therapeutic interventions as directly related to area of assignment. Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old to apply. Must possess a valid drivers license and have a clean driving record with less than 6 points. HS Diploma/GED and two years experience in social services. Bachelors degree preferred. Must be presently certified as a peer specialist (CPS).
