JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Machinist II performs intermediate-level machining tasks with minimal supervision. This role involves programming setting up and operating CNC dual-spindle lathes for low to medium volume precision machining. Interpreting complex drawings and collaborating across departments.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and modify machining programs using CAM software (Mastercam preferred)
  • Experience or familiarity operating CMX NHX DMU65 DMU50 and VCF CNC machines
  • Design and build tooling fixtures and workholding solutions
  • Perform machine setup including tooling offsets work offsets and prove-out of new programs
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings including GD&T
  • Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring equipment
  • Troubleshoot machining tooling and process issues to improve quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with engineering quality and production teams to resolve technical challenges
  • Operate basic shop equipment including bandsaws manual lathes mills drill presses and shears
  • Maintain machines tooling and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Follow all company safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior machinists and support skill development within the team


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required.

3-10 years of CNC machining experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to independently program set up and operate CNC lathes with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of machining principles tooling feeds/speeds and workholding
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience using precision inspection equipment
  • Experience with dual-spindle CNC lathes
  • Experience with mill-turn machining
  • Familiarity with DN Solutions lathes
  • Experience with BMT65 live tooling systems
  • Mastercam programming experience
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance high-performance or defense-related components
  • Familiarity with FANUC-based controls
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software (Excel Outlook etc.)
  • Ownership of standard machinist tools
