A well-established precision manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Grinding Machinist to join its production team. The successful candidate will set up and operate CNC grinding machines to manufacture high-precision carbide cutting tools to exact technical drawings and quality standards.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong technical knowledge excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality safety and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC grinding machines in line with production priorities.
- Interpret technical drawings tool layouts and specifications to produce accurate tool geometry.
- Carry out in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Adjust machine parameters and tooling to maintain consistency and reduce scrap.
- Support machine maintenance housekeeping and safe working practices.
- Record production data issues and improvement actions accurately.
- Assist with new product introductions trials and prototypes.
- Support and train less experienced team members where required.
Candidate profile
- Experience with CNC grinding ideally including Rollomatic and/or ANCA machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings tool blueprints and geometric tolerances.
- Knowledge of CNC programming and grinding software such as ToolRoom or VGPro.
- Confident using precision inspection tools including micrometers calipers and optical measuring systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive quality-focused approach.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with high standards for accuracy and reliability.
