Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse the nursing assistant performs various duties in the care and treatment of patients in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Medical Center.
- Provides direct care to patients in accordance with their individualized care plans
- Assists patient with activities of daily living including bathing oral care dressing grooming and toileting
- Assist in transportation and transfer of patients ensuring comfort and safety during movement
- Monitor and record vital signs intake and output and other patient data reporting any abnormalities or concerns to nursing team
- Accuchecks completed as directed
- Accurate and prompt documentation
- Assist with patient hygiene and comfort measures including turning and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers
- Support patients with feeding and hydration needs adhering to dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities. Removing trays in timely manner.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and promote positive patient outcomes
- Completes hourly rounds to assigned patients and anticipates patient needs. Responding promptly to call lights and patient requests
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment including changing bed linens stocking supplies and ensuring cleanliness of patient rooms and preparing rooms for admissions and transfers.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-stress environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in DE
- BLS Basic Life Saving Certification
- High school diploma preferred OR current high school student with CNA license (work schedule in compliance with the State of Delaware Department of Labor Regulations)
