Job Summary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows understands incorporates anddemonstratesthe Trinity Health Mission Vision and Values in behaviors practices and decisions.
Undertake primary counselor/clinician responsibilities for designated patients including:
Establish a positive trusting rapport with patients and/or families.
Conduct thorough bio-psycho-social assessments.
Provide individual group and/or family counseling and educational sessions for both patients and family members.
Monitor participation and progress in the program toensurethe planned provision of services.
Prepare andmaintainelectronic patient records consistent with rules and regulations.
Assure compliance with all regulatory rules and regulations including HIPAA 42 C.F.R IDPH Joint Commission etc.
Consultconferand coordinate with members of the multi-disciplinary team for psychiatric services including the psychiatrists nurses case managers social workers etc.
Create implement andmonitorindividual patient treatment plans according to needs and circumstances while revising/updating them asappropriate.
Coordinate with area agencies and resources to offer holistic care for patients while minimizing potentialbarriersreferringpatients when necessary.
Demonstrate patience compassion and motivation in a high-energy and demanding environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters Degree: LMHCorLISWpreferred will consider LMSW(Supervision available).
Field of Study: Social Workor Psychology
Licenses/Registration: Licensure inthe state of Iowa
Excellent communication listening and writing skills.
Solid understanding of behavioral health disorders and symptoms in the DSM 5.
Mustpossessa personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy mission vision goals and values of Trinity Health.
POSITION PURPOSE
Consistent with the Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Professional Licensure Standards the Psychiatric Unit Therapist is a member of the MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center multi-disciplinary treatment team and is accountable for the delivery of holistic compassionate individualized and effective care demonstrated using the core functions of practice associated in a clinical role.

- Knows and adheres to all laws and regulationspertaining topatient healthsafetyand medical.
- Practice within the legal scope of a professional counselor as outlined by theIowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Professional Licensureandretainaccountability for ones own counseling practice.
- Utilize research andevidence-based practice standards in the delivery of patient care.
- Continuously seek out opportunities to improve the quality of patient care delivery through innovative and creative problem solving.
- Support andparticipatein shared leadership and interdisciplinary decision-making.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct and practice consistent with theAmerican Counselor Association (ACA) or National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics.
