About the Morgridge College of Education
The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) is a unit of the Unified College of Education and Social Work
at the University of Denver. It is a graduate professional school dedicated to creating positive change by unleashing the power of learning. The college infuses equity across its advanced degrees in curriculum and instruction counseling psychology early childhood special education education leadership and public policy higher education research methods and library information science school counseling school psychology and teacher preparation. MCEs mission is to be a force for positive change in the lives of individuals organizations and communities by preparing highly competent socially responsible ethical and caring professionals; engaging in learning partnerships; contributing high-quality research; and modeling excellence in all our educational programs. The MCE is located in Katherine A. Ruffatto Hall a 65000 square foot complex built in 2010 which provides a flexible innovative and multidisciplinary learning environment. The facility allows for ongoing dialogue with community national and global partners as we enter a transformational era in education.
About the Research Methods & Statistics Program
The Research Methods & Statistics Programs (RMS) philosophy and mission are aligned with MCE to train global leaders who employ innovative and effective approaches to advance learning development health and wellness throughout the lifespan and who promote educational and social equity. RMS provides the courses and experiences necessary to conduct and supervise cutting-edge social science research. Graduates with RMS degrees hold professional positions in testing and program evaluation companies non-profit organizations universities school districts and state and service agencies among others. RMS faculty are active in research pedagogy and practice; hold leadership positions in professional organizations; regularly contribute scholarly work in their respective fields; and have a strong commitment to teaching mentoring and working in partnership with graduate students.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will play a strong role in teaching and service during the academic year. As an RMS clinical faculty member they will undertake specific responsibilities including teaching graduate courses (e.g. Analysis of Variance Psychometric Theory Advanced Measurement and Item Response Theory) and participating in coursework and student advising including serving on thesis and dissertation committees. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions
Teaching Advising and Mentorship
- Teach courses as assigned equaling 30 quarter credit hours typically across four quarters demonstrating experience and versatility through engaging and rigorous pedagogical approaches. Specific course assignments are determined annually in consultation with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs program lead and division lead and are expected to draw from content areas such as statistics (e.g. correlation and regression analysis of variance) measurement quantitative research design.
- Additional responsibilities include advising masters and doctoral students and involvement in dissertation committees and comprehensive exams.
Scholarship and Applied Practice
- Maintain currency in the field through scholarly engagement applied methodological consulting conference participation and/or peer-reviewed contributions.
- Externally funded research is welcomed but not required for this position.
Service
- Engage in service to the division MCE the Unified College of Education and Social Work and DU at a level appropriate to a clinical faculty appointment.
- Service may take the form of participating in curricular decision-making supporting program admissions actively participating meetings and retreats updating program curriculum serving on committees and additional duties as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D. Ed.D. or equivalent) in research methods and statistics educational measurement quantitative psychology applied statistics educational psychology with a quantitative emphasis or a closely related field.
- Currently appointed at the Associate or Full Professor rank (any series)
- Demonstrated expertise in graduate-level instruction in quantitative methods including statistics measurement and/or research design.
- Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate level or strong potential for it as demonstrated through a teaching portfolio prior instructional roles syllabi and/or student/peer evaluations.
- Capacity to advise graduate students conducting empirical quantitative research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching multiple courses across a research methods curriculum particularly some combination of ANOVA correlation/regression statistics psychometrics item response theory or quantitative research design.
- Experience supervising students in applied research practica or capstone-style methodological work.
- Ability to mentor doctoral students involving quantitative or mixed methods research.
- Familiarity with contemporary quantitative software ecosystems (e.g. R Mplus IRT-relevant packages etc.).
- Experience teaching in online hybrid and/or executive-format graduate programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supporting students from a range of disciplinary and professional backgrounds.
- Record of methodological consulting or interdisciplinary collaboration with applied researchers in education psychology health or related fields.

- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
Work Schedule
While the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $95000-$105000
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
