Primary: 8:00am-4:30pm

Secondary: 7:00am-3:30pm

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director and clinical supervisor performs these duties directly involved with the clinical education of student radiographers. Supervises clinical education evaluates progress maintains records and counsels students in the clinical setting and teaches classes as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills Required:
be licensed by the New York State Department of Health and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and maintain a current status.
Degree in Radiologic Technology required. Bachelor Degree or pursuing a degree preferred.
as staff technologist in a hospital setting for a minimum of two years. Maintains competency in the professional discipline instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities.
proficiency in clinical instruction and student evaluation through experience or by pursing courses pertinent to the profession. Knowledgeable of program goals. Understands the clinical objectives and clinical evaluation system.
positive and effective communication skills for interaction with students during image critique and counseling.
sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills in dealing with apprehensive patients and family in a professional compassionate manner.
positive and effective communication skills for interaction with physicians and staff in any situation.
completed the Clinical Instructor Academy through the ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists). This meets the JRCERT (Joint Review Committee on Education of Radiologic Technology) standards for Radiography Clinical Instructors.
be an approved Clinical Instructor with the JRCERT within one year.

As applicable the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
