This is a 12-month clinical-track position located on Tarleton State Universitys main campus in Stephenville hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM-5:00 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. May be assigned to teach at various campus locations or through approved instructional modalities as determined by the institution based on operational as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act.

The faculty member will be expected to demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching maintain professional engagement within the discipline mentor graduate students and participate in the necessary operation and accreditation activities of the Clinical Graduate Simulation Education Program and the institution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

80% Teaching and Service:

  • Plan prepare and deliver graduate lectures laboratories seminars and simulation education activities within the College of Health and Clinical Professions.

  • Develop course syllabi instructional materials laboratory exercises examinations and assessment tools.

  • Assess student performance provide timely feedback and evaluate student learning outcomes for continuous program improvement.

  • Engage students in active learning critical thinking and hands-on simulation laboratory experiences consistent with professional standards.

  • Provide academic advising mentoring and career guidance to prospective and current students.

  • Participate in student recruitment retention progression and graduation initiatives.

  • Maintain compliance with university policies academic standards and accreditation requirements.

  • Collaborate with faculty clinical affiliates and university personnel to ensure effective program delivery.

  • Participate in departmental college university and professional service activities including committee assignments and faculty governance.

  • Maintain professional credentials certifications and continuing education activities relevant to Clinical Graduate Simulation Education.

20% Administrative:

As Director of Simulation Education the faculty member will:

  • Provide leadership oversight and administration of the Simulation Education.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all accreditation standards of each program in the College of Health and Clinical Professions.

  • Coordinate preparation and submission of accreditation reports annual updates self-studies and substantive change documentation.

  • Lead curriculum development review assessment and continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Coordinate program assessment plans and student learning outcome evaluations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students regarding academic progression and professional development.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with affiliated clinical education sites throughout Texas and other approved locations.

  • Monitor and evaluate simulation education effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with the Department Head Program Director faculty and staff regarding scheduling and strategic planning.

  • Assist with faculty recruitment mentoring and onboarding related to program needs.

  • Support the development of articulation pathways and opportunities.

  • Represent the Program at professional meetings recruitment events advisory board meetings and accreditation activities.

  • Maintain records and documentation necessary for program operations and accreditation compliance.

Summer Appointment:

Teaching/Service

  • Teaching assignments are determined by the Dean and Program Directors based on program needs.

  • Admin assignments as determined by the Dean and Program Director based on program needs.

Minimum Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD EdD or equivalent) in a relevant field OR Masters degree in a health-related field with significant simulation education experience from an accredited university.

  • Additional certification in simulation education preferred (e.g. CHSE CHSOS) or equivalent professional credential.

  • Eligibility to serve as Director under current ARC-PA and CAPTE accreditation standards.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Graduate Simulation Education accreditation standards curriculum development clinical education requirements and assessment practices; ability to lead and administer an accredited academic program; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students faculty staff clinical affiliates and professional organizations; strong organizational communication and leadership skills; ability to interact with students staff and faculty in a professional collegial and collaborative manner.
