SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Elections Coordinator the Clerk III performs a variety of routine administrative support tasks related to voter registration and election administration. If applicable this individual must be flexible to work weekends and after hours when needed.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Elections Coordinator. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None generally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties include the following:
Checks records processes and maintains a variety of forms and records used in preparation for and during primary general and special elections.
Process the mail for the Elections Office.
Receive process and complete absentee ballot requests. Prepares and sends out a list of absentee voters.
Maintain paper records and assist in the training of the public with the election processes.
Answers phones and provides information regarding voter registration schedules locations and election hours.
Processes paper and electronic voter registrations updates and removals.
Receive election return sheets from machine tabulations and absentee ballots. Performs activities involved in the tabulation of the official election count certifies results and sends out copies.
Other duties as assigned by the Elections Coordinator.
Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Mandatory Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Two (2) years experience in general office procedures and direct contact with the public basic level computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft 365. Utilization of a centralized voter registration and election management information system to enter review and update voter information. Prepare reports. The individual is required to sign a confidentiality agreement. CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES REGISTRATION Other special job requirements include a valid Texas drivers license.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend a broad scope of legal documentation. Must be able to effectively communicate in written and oral form. Bi-lingual skills are a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Individual must be able to perform basic accounting skills balance the cash drawer and effectively make change. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must exercise good public relations. The individual must possess the ability to calm difficult people. Must be able to adapt to software changes and procedural changes concerning the general office and computer within the first thirty days of implementation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is a sedentary position. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
