Job Summary

Overview

The Department for Children and Families Child Development Division (CDD) is hiring a CIS Personnel Development (PD) Coordinator. This position works in CDDs Childrens Integrated Services (CIS) team which implements a system of early intervention family support and prevention services that help ensure the healthy development and well-being of young children.

CDD is housed in the Waterbury State Office Complex (WSOC). The PD Coordinator position is a hybrid position allowing for some remote work. The CIS unit also has weekly in-person meetings in Waterbury and occasionally holds other team events on-site-a successful candidate should have a reliable way to get to Waterbury as needed for these activities.

A CIS Professional Development Coordinator is responsible for ongoing coordination of a Comprehensive System of Personnel Development for CIS providers. This includes:
Leading CIS personnel recruitment and retention;
Collaborating with State of Vermont partners Vermonts institutes of higher education and others to support the preparation for those who may enter the field of early childhood;
Providing professional development consultation and technical assistance to CIS regional teams;
Planning and implementing workforce training activities for the CIS system.


Needed experience for this position includes:
Experience working with young children and families;
Experience working with children with specialized needs or risk factors;
Experience in the development and provision of training and professional development activities;
Experience providing technical assistance coaching and/or mentoring to staff working with young children and families;
Experience implementing policies and processes that minimize differences in client service utilization as well as maximize provider recruitment and retention.

Skills needed for this position include:
Reliability;
Well developed organizational skills;
Self-motivation independence and the ability to work autonomously;
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Environmental Factors

Duties are primarily performed in both a standard office and field settings. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. A variety of meetings and public hearings may require some evening work. Strong conflicting opinions on policy program implementation and allocation of resources may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Masters degree in education human services public administration or related field.

Experience: Three years of experience in education or human service organization including one at administrative consultative or planning level preferably in child or family services.

OR

Education: Bachelors degree in education human services organizational development public administration or related human services field.

Experience: Five years experience as described above.
