Child Nutrition Field Supervisor

JOB GOAL:
The Child Nutrition Field Supervisor will oversee and provide direction to employees in thechild nutrition department; to monitor assigned personnel to ensure jobs are performed in a safe and efficient manner and food preparation practices meet safety and sanitation standards; to ensure prepared foods meet USDA nutritional requirements department quality standards and are served in a manner that is pleasing to the customer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school education required with additional course work in food servicemanagement and/or nutrition preferred
2. Valid Arizona drivers license with proof of insurance and ability and willingness todrive own vehicle to various locations.
3. Three years experience in school food service highly recommended.
4. Demonstrated ability to supervise budgeting accounting and purchasing functionspertaining to food service operations.
5. Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills to interact effectively withadministration and cafeteria staff.
6. Ability to maintain a safe work environment for self and others.
7. Proficiency in English and general communication skills (oral and written) forproviding work directions and interacting with staff students and administration.
8. Working knowledge of large scale food production quantity cooking and inventorymanagement.
9. Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word ExcelEmail etc) and ability to train assigned personnel in the use of these programs.
10. Willingness to participate in professional growth activities.
11. SNA credential preferred.
12. Valid Maricopa County Managers Certificate or ability to obtain one within 3 months.
13. Must pass a background clearance
14. Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 223 Days; 11 Months
COMPENSATION:Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position
BENEFITS:As per QCUSD District policy
REPORTS TO: Director of Child Nutrition
HOURS: 40hours per week Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly Non-exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

1. Create a positive environment to provide quality customer service and retention of food service staff
2. Direct child nutrition workers and other personnel as assigned to maximize the efficiency of the work forceand to meet labor requirements
3. Implement menu plans to meet USDAs National School Lunch and Breakfast requirements
4. Oversee safety and sanitation procedures to maintain standards required by Maricopa CountyEnvironmental Services.
5. Oversee the preparation of food and beverage items to meet projected meal requirements and nutritionalcomponents
6. Perform functions as required of another position within area of responsibility to provide overall coverageof food service operation
7. Prepare documentation (e.g. production reports audits inventory site visits etc) to provide written supportand/or convey information
8. Respond to inquiries of student district personnel and the public to provide information
9. Train and evaluate job performance of assigned personnel to achieve success in the child nutrition program
10. Establish and implement procedures for adequate control of foods supplies equipment and labor.
11. Monitor the preparation of accurate reports in food labor and operating costs.
12. Monitor income and expenditures and compare to budget on a regular basis.
13. Develop and implement a plan for professional growth and certification for the child nutrition staffproviding appropriate in-service training.
14. Determine facility needs and assist in planning the physical structure of the child nutrition service facilities.
15. Maintain effective working relationships with appropriate members of all departments in the District.
16. Keep Director of Child Nutrition apprised of cafeteria operations on a regular basis.
17. Consult and resolve with site administrators any problems of mutual concern involving the child nutritionservices or personnel.
18. Attend meetings workshops and in-service training.
19. Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.

The employee is frequently required to apply physical exertion including running jumping climbing tugging lifting pulling and restraining. Must travel from school to school within the District. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
