1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement up to aten-year maximum

Job Summary:
Perform a variety of duties related to the day-to-day preparation and delivery of school food service to students and adults.
All applicants please note: If offered a position with Food and Nutrition the offer is conditional on the applicant being required to pass a timed agility test. This test includes basic mobility bending reaching arms overhead and out rotation squatting and kneeling as well as lifting and carrying a 10lb weighted crate pushing a cart with a 20lb weighted crate and lifting a 47lb weighted crate. Exact details of the test will be explained at the time of testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Excellent employee attendance is critical to perform the duties and responsibilities
Be involved in the preparation and serving of food daily in the cafeteria to include outside serving carts
Operate various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers slicers choppers steam tables ovens etc. as needed
Wash dishes pots and pans equipment kitchen utensils and work area cleanup
Set-up and cleanup food serving lines food bars etc
Handle money for purchase of food and beverage service and operate a register or computerized point of sale to include associated paperwork
Excellent customer service
Conform to District Food and Nutrition and Health Department policies
Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
Possess or ability to become ServeSafe Certified within 90 days from hire
Reliable transportation required
Van certification may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
Have experience in an institutional restaurant or school kitchen environment
Have some knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
Have some knowledge of food borne diseases
Ability tolearn and understand the regulatory requirements of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs

Work takes place in a fast-paced food service environment
Transport food to another location and organize food distribution

Collaborates with cafeteria staff school administrators teachers and students
Must follow strict food safety health regulations and federal/state meal program guidelines
Prolonged periods of standing and moving around the kitchen/cafeteria
Have the ability to perform vigorous physical work and to lift up to 50 lbs
