Job Summary

Management Controls Inc. (MCi) is excited to welcome a Chief Technology Officer to join our dynamic team in Houston TX. The CTO is on the Executive Leadership team and is responsible for all technology related matters. This includes product management product design quality assurance engineering and infrastructure.

Management Controls Inc. is headquartered in Houston Texas. This position is based at the Houston headquarters on a hybrid schedule with three days in the office. It is not eligible for sponsorship relocation or fully remote work.


  • Formulate technology strategy and product vision that supports the overall corporate strategy
  • Lead transformation of product ideas from their most formidable stages into market-ready solutions while maintaining a serious consideration of the financial implications marketing needs and overall objectives of the business
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of all technology activities for the purpose of meeting product and business goals. This includes management of the Product Management Design Quality Assurance Engineering and Infrastructure teams
  • Oversee activities of direct reports with mentorship encouragement and corrective actions
  • Champion MCis products leveraging the input and capabilities of the Marketing department
  • Ensure that product design product maintenance and product improvements resonate with customers boost product appeal and reach revenue goals
  • Conduct research analysis into future product direction gap analysis product differentiation and execution strategies that will lead to the products ultimate success
  • Identify manage and leverage new technology innovation
  • Implement and oversee security measures to protect the companys data and technology assets.
  • Develop and manage department budget including resource allocation for projects and initiatives
  • Encourage adoption of new ideas and methods
  • Support Sales and Customer Success departments
  • Leverage AI-powered tools and data-driven insights to improve and advance Technology department
Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science or similar; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of operational experience including proven operational success in the contract and technology sectors
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability develop trust and credibility lead by example and motive high-performing teams
  • Financially fluency including experience owning P&L and driving decisions around spend. Experience with capital markets mergers and acquisitions and successfully executing on transactions. Experience with private equity or venture capital is a plus.
  • Experience operating an AI-enabled SDLC including using collaborative tools to translate product requirements into user stories employing AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code) for development and unit testing and leveraging AI-augmented QA tools (e.g. Playwright) for automated testing and quality assurance
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP integrations OAuth/OIDC authentication protocols and cloud-native integration infrastructure (Azure preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with a modern Microsoft technology stack including C# .NET Angular Kubernetes and Azure-native infrastructure along with Elastic and Power BI for search embedded reporting and analytics
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex environment
  • Financially fluency including experience owning P&L and driving decisions around spend. Experience with capital markets mergers and acquisitions and successfully executing on transactions. Experience with private equity or venture capital is a plus.
  • Strong communications skills Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • Effective polished interaction in virtual delivery in 1:1 engagements or presentations
  • Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills an ability to use various data collection tools and methodologies to analyze problems and develop solutions
  • Outstanding partnering capabilities and ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Ability to drive product/service improvements in core technical focus area
  • Knowledge and understanding of practical applications for AI in technology development
