A highly respected inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Northern Virginia is seeking a dynamic and clinically strong Chief Nursing Officer to lead nursing operations and drive excellence in patient care. This approximately 40-bed specialty hospital operates in partnership with one of the regions premier health systems and is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes through collaborative patient-centered care.

Position Overview

The Chief Nursing Officer serves as the senior nursing executive and is responsible for the strategic operational and clinical leadership of all nursing services. The CNO will play a critical role in shaping the culture of the organization developing nursing talent ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.

The ideal candidate will be a visible hands-on leader with strong relationship-building skills a passion for staff development and a proven ability to drive clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for all nursing operations and patient care services
  • Foster a culture of accountability engagement quality and patient safety
  • Lead nursing workforce planning recruitment retention and succession development initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory accreditation and quality standards
  • Partner closely with physicians executive leadership and interdisciplinary teams
  • Monitor and improve patient outcomes satisfaction scores and operational performance metrics
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and resource allocation
  • Champion evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • Current RN license
  • Masters degree required (MSN MHA MBA or related healthcare field)
  • Progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care or rehabilitation hospital setting
  • Strong critical care or ICU clinical background required
  • Demonstrated leadership success in managing teams driving quality outcomes and developing staff
  • Excellent communication relationship-building and change management skills
