This position is responsible for preparing and teaching college developmental and high school-level courses in chemistry and math at Bates Technical College. This position may also require instruction in other related college and high school science courses. This position reports directly to the Central Campus Dean of Instruction.
This is a 214/7 non-tenure track faculty position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & OTHER DUTIES
Essential Functions
Teach assigned chemistry math and related courses and provide high quality instruction in a variety of delivery methods including face to face web-enhanced hybrid and online.
Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons primarily for college-level chemistry courses transitional studies and high school chemistry and science courses and general education courses such as precollege developmental and college-level math.
Communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse population of colleagues and students.
Provide each student with clear course expectations evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved standardized syllabus.
Support college student achievement practices to ensure student retention completionand progression.
Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
Provide individual and small group instruction to students in both a classroom and lab setting.
Ensure that individual lab and small group instruction is based on best available education practices meets standards for content and is relevant to students vocational career training at the college.
Maintain student and curriculum records (i.e. student progress and attendance instructional syllabi course curriculum and plans and grades).
Effectively use available technology resources to enhance student access to knowledge and information and effectively use technology to deliver instructional content.
Develop and/or maintain industry-based program accreditation and ensure students are prepared for and have the opportunity to obtain relevant industry credentials and certifications.
Deliver classroom management to maintain suitable learning environment by responding appropriately to student conduct/problems and provide assistance in solving them in accordance with college procedures.
Provide budget management which includes requisition and maintenance control of and safeguard inventories of equipment and supplies assigned to the program.
Possess a reliable computer to conduct any online components of courses including the ability to utilize CANVAS the colleges learning management system of choice.
Develop and maintain full program curriculum documentation in accordance with the approved college format and ensure that instruction is consistent with current industry or business standards technologies procedures equipment and materials.
Develop course curriculum use the college syllabus template and include performance objectives competencies lesson plans and content by analyzing industry needs in the occupation taught.
Annually validate and review course competencies and skills required for industry entry level employment in the industry or profession and adapt curriculum to match those skills when needed
Coordinate with other instructors support services staff and advisory committee members to ensure a cohesive learning environment dedicated to providing industry with qualified entry-level employees.
Non-Essential/Other Functions
Actively contribute to and participate in college-wide activities in support of regional accreditation and state and federal requirements.
Support College student achievement practices to ensure student retention completionand progression.
Participate actively and collaboratively with College Student Services and program advisory committees to support access to employment opportunities for students and maintain student job placement records.
Accountable for keeping personal development up to date; adding skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses professional development committees etc.
Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment college councils etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in chemistry or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Demonstrated ability to teach college and high school level chemistry and math.

Experience teaching chemistry and math at a technical or community college at the freshman & sophomore levels.
