Job Summary
Summary
We are looking for a proactive Chemistry Lab Technician to join our newly established Wet Chemical Lab and Workshop. This role is centered on metallurgical materials science and involves the execution of critical experiments data analysis and laboratory maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Experimental Execution: Perform hands-on experiments in a wet chemistry laboratory setting with a primary focus on identifying failure modes of metals and coolants used in liquid-cooled datacenter computing equipment.
- Design of Experiments (DOE): Design and execute structured experimental plans to test material properties and processes.
- Data Analysis & Presentation: Collect technical data and prepare clear reports or presentations for the engineering team.
- Chemical Management: Prepare chemical solutions and safely handle store and dispose of corrosive chemicals.
- Lab Maintenance: Operate calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized laboratory equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: B.S. in Chemistry Electrochemistry Chemical Engineering Biochemistry Materials Science or a closely related field.
- Experience: 3 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
Technical Proficiency:
- Hands-on experience with one or more analytical chemistry and materials science instruments and techniques such as FTIR Raman titration ion-selective electrodes optical microscopy universal testers corrosion potentiostats particle size analysis material sample preparation thermal conductivity etc.
- Strong foundational skills in chemical solution preparation and safety protocols.
- Experience with laboratory equipment preventive maintenance
Ways to Stand out from the Crowd
- Hands-on experience executing ASTM standard test methods
- Experience with high-vacuum physical vapor deposition (PVD) equipment (e.g. sputter and E-beam evaporation).
- Familiarity with vacuum ovens .
- Proficiency in scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) .
- Prior experience working with hardware relevant to the IT industry (e.g. thermal interface materials cold plates manifolds PCB materials).
- Ability to operate computing equipment in a Linux environment (e.g. write and execute shell scripts debug terminal error messages navigate Linux directories etc.)
