The Department of Chemistry at the Queens campus of St. Johns Universitylocatedin New York City is seeking applicants for adjunct instructor positions in foundational first- and second-year chemistry courses. We are specifically looking for instructors to teach general chemistry and organic chemistrylecture laboratory and recitation sections.

The Department of Chemistry offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees. We have twelve tenured/tenure-track faculty members all of whommaintainactive research and scholarly programs. The department graduates approximately10ACS-certified B.S. chemistry majors and five M.S. students per year. There is an active ACS Student Chapter and seminar program with weekly meetings.

The department is well equipped with modern instrumentation including a 400 MHz NMR ICP GC-MS GC-FID UV-vis fluorescence LC-MS HPLC and FTIR instruments. Successful candidates will primarily teach foundational first- and second-year courses in organic chemistry and general chemistry including lecture laboratory and recitation sections.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate chemistry teaching.Candidates with experience teaching diverse learners and those who havedemonstrateda commitment to anti-racism inclusivity and equity in their pedagogy or pedagogical plans are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have an M.S. in chemistry orarecurrently pursuing an advanced degree in chemistry or a closely related field. Candidates should have the ability to teach foundational undergraduate chemistry courses particularly in organic chemistry and general chemistrylectures laboratory and recitation settings.
