Job Summary

Position Summary:The Chemical Operators work on a rotating shift team focusing on field and control room chemical unit operations for safely running process systems and associated equipment during their duties of the operator role include but are not limited to the following: The Field Operator operates field equipment draws process samples and prepares equipment for maintenance. The Control Room Operator monitors and operates equipment and facilities which includes combustion units scrubbers absorption towers heat exchangers and tanks via the Distributed Control System (DCS).Summary of the Main Responsibilities:Adhere to standard work and standard operating procedures to ensure unit safety quality and production goals are metResponsible to take and interpret readings on various equipment assessing any variation to standard troubleshooting and taking action to bring the process back to standardTroubleshoot process issues and take corrective action to ensure a safe and sustainable operating areaAbility to handle and work with highly hazardous chemicals and the ability to wear and work in full body PPE (personal protective equipment)Effectively communicating and escalating processes upsets and/or equipment issues within the organizationRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent required2 years of experience in a manufacturing industrial and/or chemical plant environmentAdditional Qualifications:1 year of Chemical Operations background/experience is strongly preferredAbility to work on a 12-hour rotating shift scheduleAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to perform the physical labor associated with the jobPossess a strong work ethic and initiative to learn new processesAbility to work at elevated heights - greater than 50 feetAbility to work in confined spacesDemonstrated ability to deliver a safe workspace based on following standard workDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action within an industrial settingAdvanced troubleshooting skillsThe ability to handle and work with highly hazardous chemical intermediatesAbility to wear and work in full body PPE (personal protective equipment) which includes acid suit (acid jacket & acid pants) full face respirator and hoodAbility to load and unload bulk liquid chemical trucks and rail carsDemonstrated ability to communicate through multiple layers of an organizationComputer literateThe hourly rate for this position is $26.14
