Service Area with Openings: Greater Houston
The Job:
Support the successful execution of Pathways Hospice mission and Core Values by providing spiritual and emotional support to patients families and staff during the end-of-life process. Their role is focused on addressing the spiritual needs and concerns of those facing terminal illness offering comfort guidance and companionship.
Responsibilities:
- Spiritual Support for Patients: Offering prayer scripture readings and spiritual counseling based on the patients faith tradition or personal preferences to provide comfort and peace.
- Emotional and Grief Counseling: Helping patients and families cope with the emotional and psychological challenges of terminal illness including grief fear and loss.
- Supporting Families: Providing bereavement support and resources for family members both during the patients illness and after their passing.
- Collaboration with Hospice Team: Working closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team such as nurses social workers and doctors to ensure holistic care for the patient and family.
- Other duties as assigned
Must Haves:
- 2 year experience with Hospice or Palliative Care
- (.) Master of Divinity (.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or theological school a plus
- Completion of a CPE training - Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification
- Prefer Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or other programs and certifications such as: Board Certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC).
- Must be in good standing with the Federal and State Government
